Conversations with Carter

One evening while we were eating supper:

Carter - Go ou-side and play?

Corbin - No, buddy we can't play outside tonight, it's dark out there.

Carter - Get flashlight and go play? (Flashlight is pronounced "trashlight")

One morning, I overheard Carter talking to his teddy through the monitor:

Carter - Teddy, where are you?....oh, there you are teddy!

(I go into his room thinking he is ready to get up)

Carter - No Mommy! Still sleeping! Go away Mommy! Carter still sleeping!

Me - Okay, okay. Sorry.

(I leave the room)

20 seconds later...

Carter - Okay Mommy, Carter all done night-night.

Whenever Carter feels the need to bust in the bathroom when I am using it...

Carter - Mommy, going potty?

Me - Yep, I sure am.

Carter - Good job Mommy!

While randomly whining in the car on the way home...

Me - Carter, what is your problem?

Carter - My throwing a fit.

Me - Yes, I see that. You need to stop crying and acting like a baby. You are a big boy and big boys don't throw fits.

Carter - No, still crying!

(a few minutes later)

Carter - Okay, Mommy, all done crying.
After he uses the bathroom, the nursery worker at church is helping him wash his hands...

NW - Okay, Carter, now shake off the water. Shake shake shake!

Carter - Shake your bootie!!

After Carter broke something of Corbin's...

Carter - Daddy, I sowy I broke it. It was a vewy (very) accident.

Sitting at the supper table one night, our dog starts barking (Buster, Carter calls him Bubba)...

Carter - Bubba, no barking, bad girl!

Me - Carter, Bubba is a boy!

Carter - NO MOMMY! Bubba is a DOG! (he said it with such a teenager "DUH" tone, it was hilarious)

Moving!

Around the end of November we decided to put our house on the market just to see what kind of response we would get. We knew that with another baby coming, things would be a little crowded and we wanted another room! We were so blessed to have an offer on our house on New Years Day!

So the packing began...
Carter enjoyed seeing all of his old baby toys (now "Weevi's toys"). Please excuse his scratched up face. He had a not so great encounter with my sister's dog!
I soon learned why people who move say they don't want to do it for a LONG time! We found a house soon after our offer and closed on both houses in mid-February.
Carter made the most of all the boxes laying around!

Once we get our house looking a little more presentable, I promise I will post pictures! It is feeling a lot more like "home" now and we feel so blessed that everything worked out the way that it did. Carter is loving his "new house" too. That is still what he calls it! Ha!
Oh, and no news in the baby department...still pregnant! I am 38 weeks today and I go to the doctor tomorrow, so we shall see!

Snow!

Our first snow of the winter came the day after Christmas, but I was still sick, and Carter had a fever and I was worried he was getting sick, so we stayed inside. But a couple weeks later we got snow again, and this time - a lot!

Carter was so excited to go play in the snow. We didn't stay out that long as it was freezing and I had just got everyone in the house healthy (Corbin got the flu after Christmas)!

He tended to freak out a bit when his mittens fell off! He did not like to touch that cold snow!

Oh how I love this little boy!

37 weeks - Full Term!

How Far Along: 37 weeks

Size of Baby: The "average" baby at this time is 6ish pounds and 19ish inches.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Not as much as I was afraid I would gain, but still definitely more than I gained with Carter!

Maternity Clothes: Yessssss.

Gender: Still a boy!

Movement: Levi is particularly active as soon as I get into bed, the little stinker! He also enjoys resting his foot on my right ribcage.

Sleep: I've actually had a few nights of decent sleep recently, which I am thankful for!

What I miss: I just want my baby!!

Cravings: BREAKFAST. I have had a craving for a big breakfast (pancakes, eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, mmmmm) for weeks now. I swear if I go into labor before I get my breakfast I'm going to be upset! But I am looking forward to the hospital breakfasts - soo good!

Symptoms: Contractions have definitely picked up. Nothing of any regularity, but every little bit helps! I also had my 37 week appointment today and I am a "loose" 1 cm dilated.

Best Moment This Week: We took Carter on a special trip to the zoo this past weekend to celebrate his eventual end to only child-ness. He had a blast and so did we. Hopefully I will get those pictures up here before he starts school!

Christmas 2010!

Merry Christmas (in March! ha!) from our family!
I was sick as a dog this Christmas! It was terrible! But thankfully, I will still able to enjoy my little man enjoying his first real Christmas where he understood what was going on. Corbin and I couldn't wait for him to wake up in the morning, and when he did, I turned the camera on and we filmed his first glimpse of what was in our living room...

Cookies for breakfast are acceptable on Christmas (although he did eat pancakes and bacon later!)
Little man was very excited about his Diego bike!
(Please excuse the bed head!)
After we opened up all of our presents at home, we went over to my parents house. Thanks to them my 2 year old now has his very own electric toothbrush. Haha!

Carter feeding Vick (my sister's dog) his Christmas bone.
After visiting with Gigi, Poppy & Aunt Kristen, we headed over to Mimi and Papa's house!
Carter LOVED having his Uncle Mitchell around for a few weeks during Christmas! He still will randomly tell me that "Mitchell in school in Cawiforna" (California).
Carter was a bit attached to his bike when we got back home that night. He isn't quite tall enough to reach the petals, but apparently it was a good enough seat to sit and watch some Thomas movies.

Because I never want to forget...

Yesterday, Carter had been napping for over 4 hours and we were waiting on him to wake up so we could go out to eat. So, I went into his room and layed on his bed with him (He's in a twin now - I didn't climb into a crib!) - he opened his eyes looked at me and sleepily said "Hey Mommy". Then he put his arms around my neck and said "I wuv you".

Sweetest moment ever!

2 Year Portraits

I amazed myself and actually got around to getting Carter's two year portraits taken! Here are some of my favorites. Those of you who got our Christmas card already saw some of these!

We had to get a few "Christmas themed" shots. He was over the picture taking process at this point, so we had to distract him with a prop!

Such a handsome boy if I do say so myself!!
