Sick Baby

Well...I knew it would happen eventually. I was plagued by them throughout my childhood and now Carter gets to experience his first...ear infection. Poor buddy just wasn't acting himself this past week. Pulling on his ears, grumpy, not eating very much. Then Wednesday night he screamed bloody murder from 10:30 to 1:30 and I KNEW something was wrong.

So off to the doctor we went.

Isn't this the most pitiful picture?!? Sorry the quality isn't that great - it was taken with my cell phone.

We are now on day two of antibiotics (which Carter loves, of course...strange child and his love for medicine) and things are still a little rough, but I'm hoping he will be better come Monday. Say a prayer for my little man if you think about it...actually for all of us. Both Corbin and I have been fighting of a pretty nasty chesty coughy throaty thing.

Strong Man!

Carter may be little, but he sure is strong. I had put him in his crib the other day to play while I cleaned up his room, and this is what I found next...

That little booger was trying to pull himself up. It was so funny. He was grunting and groaning and just giving his all so he could be standing up, so I helped him to the position that he was aiming for.

Then, last night at church I had him in one of the cribs in the overflow room and he pulled himself up to his knees! The kid loves to stand. We'll probably be lowering the mattress in his crib before too long.

And, as a random aside, today marks 6 months since I added the little ticker to the side of the blog. I'm amazed that I've had over 1500 visitors!! I am curious if I have any lurkers out there. Leave me a message and say hey and tell me how cute my kid is or what you like about my blog or if there is something you think I should add to it! It's super easy - just click on the comments button below and follow the instructions!

Random Video

My mom also got some fun stuff for Carter man at the consignment sale I mentioned in a previous post. She had been wanting to get him a walker so he could roam around their house and she found a cute one for a good deal. Here is a little clip of him trying it out!!

I told you I'd make up for my lack of posts lately!!

Fine Motor Skills

Carter has been grabbing at our food for a long time now so a couple weeks ago I decided to try him with finger foods. I bought him some puffs and he looooves them. Mama loves them too because they are the PERFECT thing to keep him quiet in church during prayer!

It is so fun to see him learn. When I first gave him the puffs he would grab it with his fist and would thus be unable to get it in his mouth. Then slowly he learned how to grab the puffs with his finger and thumb. He is so smart!! A couple times when he cannot get it with one hand, he takes the other and tries.

I of course had to get some video of his awesome fine motor skills.

Can you tell I'm a little proud of him? I love the way he opens his mouth before he even has the puff in his hand.

He is such a good eater. We have tried several different foods - his favorite veggies are peas, carrots and squash. He loves all the fruits we have tried! Next on the menu is avocado. Although I'm pretty sure he'd rather have whatever we are

Long Time, No Blog

I'm SORRY I've been such a crappy blogger lately! I promise to make it up to all of my faithful readers (ha, all 6 of you).

Carter is amazing. I could elaborate, but that pretty much covers it. He is so sweet and fun and smart and duh, the cutest thing alive! We are having a blast with him!

Last week me and mom went to a local consignment sale to see what we could fine. I wanted to get him a nice umbrella stroller, but didn't find anything. I DID however find two winter jackets ($8 and $5 - score!) and some fun toys.

An activity table (which has unfortunately caused some minor head injuries, but I digress) that Carter loves!

A baby laptop and drum.

My mom got Carter this super cute horse! It neighs!

When I saw the drum at the sale I knew that it was just what little man needed. He bangs on everything. He knew JUST what to do with the drum!

The song is a bit annoying, but I've quickly learned that most baby toys are!

Pool Party!

Yesterday we went over to my parents house for a little pool party. They had bought their favorite grandson a little pool and had the water sitting in the sun all day so it would be warm. Well - the water was still pretty cold, but it didn't stop Carter one bit. He was SO cute and seemed to have a great time!!

Of course, here are some videos!

Yes, his pool toys mainly consisted of measuring cups and spoons, but he didn't seem to mind one bit! I loved the way he just splashed like he knew exactly what to do. It was funny because he doesn't splash in the bath, but that is all he wanted to do in the pool.

Some Reasons Why I Make My Own Baby Food

1. Four tiny peaches make 21 ounces of food!

2. The peas you buy in the containers are not nearly as bright green and fresh smelling/looking!

3. I can use it for my own enjoyment! (Yes, friends, that is a peach cube in my sweet tea! Yum!)
