Easter (part one)

I was so excited for Easter to get here this year. I had good intentions on letting Carter dye eggs, but eventually decided to avoid the mess - and the probable event that he would NOT be a fan of the craft!

The Saturday before Easter, we all went over to my Grandparent's house for a cookout. My Grandma and Grandpa don't get to see Carter too much (and they only live 5 minutes from us - I'm terrible!) So I'm glad they got the opportunity to hang out with him!

We spent the majority of the time just goofing off outside, which made our little boy VERY happy. He is just like his Daddy and loves to be outdoors. "Ousside" is a word we hear HOURLY in our home!

Next post - Easter Sunday!! We got to do something I have been wanting to do ever since I got pregnant with Carter!

Chatty Carter

Carter next doctor's appointment (after the breathing treatment fiasco) was his 15 month checkup. He is slowly but surely getting bigger! The doctor was mostly impressed, however, with his vocabulary. I knew that Carter was chatty, but it was fun to know that a professional categorized him as "advanced"!

I won't even try to list all the words he is saying now, but there are a few that he says in his own special way that is just too cute. Here are some examples:

car - cahhhh
airplane - airpane
look - ook (sounds like "look" but with no "l")
zebra - beeza
ribit (as in what a frog says) - ibit (seriously it sounds SO cute)
lion - yiyon
please - peeeese
i love you - wuv oooo
milk - muk
bath - baf
medicine - bedicine
coupon - pucon (I apparently say that word more than I thought!)
here you go - ee ee goooo
peek a boo - peek a gooo (peek and a are really high pitched and then gooo is low - ha!)
plum - pum
Graham (Carter's best friend) - Gam
Ashley (Graham's Mom) - Ashy
Micah (Graham's Dad) - Meekahhh
Oscar (the grouch) - Oker
Zoe (Sesame Street Character) - Showy

And then there are words that he says clear as day! But of course the one word we CANNOT get him to say is his own name. Whenever we ask him what his name is he points to himself and says "name!". When he does repeat his name (after we say it 3 or 4 times) it comes out - "Cahcuhh". It's rather obvious that little man hasn't mastered the "r" sound yet!! Too bad his name is full of them!

We are so proud of our little man!!

Carter's New Friend Bubbles

I knew Carter was sick when his fever was so high and he was acting like he felt miserable, but of course on the morning I took him to the doctor he perked up. I didn't want to be the crazy lady who took her kid to the pediatrician for a cold, but I'm glad that I took him!

First the doctor looked in his ears and told me he had a double ear infection, then he looked in his throat - spots on his tonsils. As if that wasn't bad enough, he then listened to his lungs and said "That doesn't sound good". NOT what I wanted to hear. Little man had a viral infection in both of his lungs.

The doctor made us stay there and do a breathing treatment to see if that would help things. If not, we'd have to go to the hospital for a chest x-ray. Thank God the breathing treatment seemed to help, so he sent us home with our very own nebulizer that we lovingly named "Bubbles".

Tell me that is not the most pitiful thing you have ever seen? He was SUCH a trooper through his 3-a-day treatments! I just hope we never have to go through that again!!

Trip to Tennessee!!

In early March, we went to Tennessee to see Corbin's brother and his family! I must say that the long car rides are not getting easier the more mobile he gets. Carter knows that he can get up and go and that is exactly what he wants to do once he is strapped into his car seat...and sadly he is not into movies enough yet to just sit quietly and watch a movie on our DVD player!

But we made it their safely and Carter, Baylie and Brenna started playing just like old friends! It is so cute to see them together. On Saturday, we went to the Children's Museum in Chattanooga. Carter wasn't feeling too well (that will have a post in itself), but he still managed to enjoy the museum!

Love this first picture!! There was a water station and I swear Carter could have stayed there ALL DAY.

It was so fun seeing the TN family - who now, live in FL! Carter spiked his highest fever on the way home from their house (103.7). The next day at the doctor we learned that Carter was a very sick little boy (and we have pitiful pictures to prove it).

February Videos

Here are some videos I took in February of little man! The first one is of Carter playing with his cars. He loves anything with wheels and a couple months ago he started making a car sound whenever he was playing with them! It was so cute and I was so proud of him for using his imagination.

The second video is of Carter using a spoon to feed himself. I know, not too thrilling, but it excited this Mama!

Zoo!

In early March, it was warm enough for us to take Carter on his first trip to the zoo! He LOVES being outside so we were fairly confident that he would enjoy himself. He was so excited about all the cars ("caahhh") in the parking lot that if we would have just walked around there he would have been content.

But we did go inside!

Carter had a great time seeing all the animals - and he has been back to the zoo several times since then!

MIA

Where have we BEEN?!?

As you can imagine, it is a lot easier to keep a blog updated when your child is immobile. Now, Carter is the COMPLETE opposite of that. Out. Of. Control!!

I do so want to try my best to get back up to date on the blog! For all the tens of you who check this! ha! So keep checking back....I will just highlight what we've been up to since mid-February!
