Messes Galore & Baby's First "Word"

I know I mentioned Carter's poor table manners in my last post, but things have escalated. I realize that babies aren't clean things. I realize that they pee and poop and drool and all kinds of other things. But I had NO CLUE how messy feeding Carter would be. Although I am thrilled that he is eating well, I can't say that I'm loving the act of feeding him!

Here is a brief synopsis of what a solid food feeding is like for us:

First couple bites go well. He "chews" and swallows. Then he has to put his hand in his mouth (at the precise time I am looking the other way to get another spoonful, so I cannot stop this from occurring). He is tired, so he rubs his eyes (i.e. sweet potatoes in the eyes). I go in for another bite and he grabs the spoon. Carter is tired of mommy manning the spoon - he must do it for himself, and thus get another handful of food. Then he realizes his feet are sitting there with nothing to do (i.e. peas between the toes). I try and fail at trying to wipe his hands clean, realizing that it is pointless as his hands are the least of my troubles.

So yeah. Food everywhere. I would have pictures, but I must admit that I am not exactly in the mood at that point. And I don't want to get carrots on my lens. Of course by the end of the meal, I too have the food all over me. Maybe I'll get Corbin to take a picture this week just so y'all can see what I'm talking about. Disgusting.

Okay. That's my rant for the day! He is still so cute when he's all clean, isn't he?

NOW onto something that just makes me smile over and over again. Carter has been babbling for a long time, but here recently his babbles actually make a word. He says "dada" like there is no tomorrow. I have been trying to catch it on video for a long time, but my child is a big fan of the camera and would rather smile and perform. Exhibit A.

BUT just this morning I had my camera nearby when Carter was calling for his Daddy. Now isn't this just the cutest thing you ever did see?

Oh I could just eat him up!! And here's some more cuteness to end this post....

He will be 7 months old tomorrow!!

First off, I believe you just discribed my daily feedings with Mason righ to down to the peas in the toes. I feel the frustration and find myself taking many deep breaths while TRYING to feed Mason.

Carter is so adorable though and has so much hair! Sometimes I think he and Mason would have a field day together.

He he hhheee!!!! I SO get the feeding thing. Has he decided to squish the food out of his mouth yet? I hope you are blessed that he misses that "stage" or whatever it is called. Zachary llooovveeesss to do that and it is messy & gross!
