2 months old & a bad bad day!

Carter turned 2 months old yesterday! To celebrate, I dressed him up cute and took pictures!

Isn't that picture of my boys just PRECIOUS?!? I have to be the most blessed girl on the planet! I love them both to death!

Here's a closeup of little man's cute outfit:

I love the look on his face: "Um...dad...what in the world are you doing to try to make me smile?"

Today was a not-so-fun day. We went in this morning for Carter's two month checkup - Doctor said he is doing great! Here are his stats:

Weight: 8 lbs 11 ounces - 2.44 percentile
Length: 21.5 inches - 6.33 percentile
Head Circumference: 14.75 inches - 6.83 percentile

Just a little munchkin! The doctor said they really don't pay much attention to percentiles at this age, and the fact that he is gaining weight and growing nicely is what matters.

We had to go back to the doctors this afternoon because they were out of the vaccines and had to get them from another office. Carter was such a trooper! He had one oral immunization (which he threw up, so we had to give it to him again) and 3 shots. He let out one glass-shattering, heart-breaking squeal when the nurse gave him his first shot, but only cried for about 30 seconds or so after they were done! It was all I could do not to cry with him - I really wanted to, but figured it would embarrass Corbin - ha! I am so proud of him, though!

Check out his battle wounds:

There is really only one word to describe how he has been tonight: PITIFUL! He has been pouting and fussing at the littlest things. I have not been able to put him down at all - the only reason I am able to update the blog is because his daddy has him now as he FINALLY let himself fall asleep. He had buried his face into my armpit and was just whimpering...it was so sad!

Hopefully after a little Tylenol and cuddling he will sleep good tonight and wake up in a little better mood. Poor little buddy.

Lots of Sleep = Lots of Smiles

Carter slept a 6 1/2 hour stretch Wednesday night and Thursday night! He woke up in a great mood the next mornings so of course I had to take pictures! Sorry some of these are so dark - I hate to use flash (I accidentally did in the 3rd picture) and I forget that I need to make sure there is lots of light in the room.

Cutest. Baby. Ever.

8 weeks old!!!

Carter Ross is 8 weeks old today! He is becoming more and more fun every day and I get so excited when he does something new! He is starting to tolerate things a lot more than he used to - i.e. his carseat. He used to scream bloody murder every time we put him in it, but now he actually seems to enjoy it some of the time. He is smiling at a lot more things, which just melts my heart! I act like a fool just to get that little boy to show me his dimples.

Here are some cute pictures I took the other day. Carter loves to be naked, so we had a little nudie photo shoot on his changing pad (seriously his favorite place to lay!). I don't know if I mentioned that we found a birth mark on him! It is a little brown oval on his thigh. I tried and tried to get a picture of it, but he was just wiggling to much - maybe another time!

He is the cutest little naked thing around!

Another fun thing Carter has discovered is a toy in his crib. He loves to just lay there and listen to the music. The funny thing is that as soon as the music stops, he starts to fuss and then will quiet down as soon as I turn it back on. I am praying that he will have his daddy's musical talent!!

On another note, I'm afraid that my baby boy might be a blondie. His hair does seem to be getting lighter...it is still definitely dark, but not as dark as it used to be, so he may be taking after his mommy. I'll keep you posted on that!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day! Corbin and I were able to go out on a date for the first time in over 8 weeks and we had a good time. Thanks Papa and Mimi for watching our baby boy!!

7 weeks old!

These past 7 weeks sure have flown by, but I have enjoyed every second I have had with Carter-man! Even the 2 am crying fits! He is growing SO FAST it is making me sad. We are about to transition into size 1 diapers! Another way to tell that he is growing up is how long he has been going between feedings at night. Last night he went 7 1/2 hours!!!! I was soooo excited I could barely go back to sleep after I fed him at 3:30! I got 5 1/2 consecutive hours of sleep and it was fabulous!

Yesterday Carter took his first nap in his crib. I think he liked it as I put him down before he was asleep and he just looked around until he fell asleep. Look how tiny he looks in that big crib:

Sleeping soundly with his crazy hair!

Carter is smiling more and more these days and at more things - like his toys. He sits in his bouncer in the mornings when I am taking my shower and when I got out of the shower yesterday, this is what he was doing - just a wiggling and a grinning:

One of Corbin and my favorite things to do lately is make up songs with Carter's name in it - or insert his name into real songs. For example, just now I heard Corbin sing along to the TV "Stanley Steamer gets carpets Carter!" haha! I would make fun of him, but I totally do the same thing. I do believe the other day I was teaching him "Carter Abraham has many sons..." Someone's going to have to teach him one day that every song doesn't include his name. The sad thing is, we did it with Buster's name before the baby came along. Seriously.

How could you not make up a stupid song when you have a face like that looking up at you?

Pictures!!

Below is a link to view some pictures that were taken of Carter - the first half of the slideshow is what was done in the hospital (about 12 hours after he was born), the second half was done in the studio when he was two weeks old. Enjoy!

I'll be back this evening (hopefully) for Carter's 7 week post!

Happy Baby!

Carter is having a good week hanging out with his grandmothers! They seem to be enjoying themselves too. I, of course, would rather be with him, but work is going well and I am keeping rather busy trying to catch up on work I have missed.

I had my 6 week postpartum appointment on Tuesday and that went well. I am now 3 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight! I'm hoping once I am able to start exercising again (whenever I find the time, that is) I will be back to normal.

Here is a little video I took of Carter being cute after a nap Tuesday morning! My big boy went a record 5 hours between feedings on Tuesday night - that meant 4 consecutive hours of sleep for mommy! I very much appreciated it.

I realize that everything I post on this blog might not be super interesting to all of my faithful readers, but this is also an electronic baby book for me, so I will continue to post things just because they are cute! I know I will be glad that I did years down the road.

6 weeks and Back to work...

I am surviving my first day back to work. Luckily, we are pretty busy, so I'm not constantly thinking about Carter and wondering how/what he is doing. I miss him more than I ever thought I would.

I have spent much of the day looking at these:

I promise once all the pictures are online I will post a link for you to view them.

Carter is 6 weeks old today and is doing great! I swear he is getting cuter and cuter every day. The medicine is starting to work, I think. He doesn't seem nearly as fussy when he eats and isn't spitting up quite as much either. He is still waking up 2 times a night, although Friday night he only woke up once!! I thought that it was the start of a new schedule, but apparently it was just a fluke - darn!

He really is a good baby even though he does have his fussy moments. His next doctor's appointment is for his two month check up - I can't wait to see how big he will be then!
