Redecorating and Rolling

If you can't tell, I've been doing a little maintenance on the blog. I've found a few neat websites and downloaded some new fonts. I like to keep you on your toes a bit! If only I could get paid for doing this sort of thing! It's still a work in progress, but hopefully I'll get it lookin the way I want it to before too long.

Carter is doing great. He is definitely teething. He chews on everything, drools like a maniac, and has to have Tylenol in order to get any uninterrupted sleep. Hopefully that little tooth will make itself known soon!

I know I mentioned earlier that Carter was rolling from his belly to his back. Well, now he is rolling from his back to his belly! This is apparently harder to do because it involves more muscles. The other day when he was in his crib trying to nap he started screaming bloody murder out of nowhere and when I went to check on him I found him on his belly, looking up at me with a "help me!" look on his face! Poor buddy. Then, this morning when I went to get him up for the day, he was on his belly again! He didn't seem to mind it this time. He's done it a few times while playing, but you can definitely tell it is a lot of work. I will try to get it on video!

On the eating front, Carter is loving his rice cereal. He will open his mouth after each bite to let me know that he is ready for another! I am excited to start real food with him in about 3 weeks!

We are gearing up this week for another road trip and Carter's first vacation! We will be going to Florida for a week and we are very excited. I am not looking forward to the packing or the driving part to the trip, but I am ready for the relaxing and eating part!

Here is this week in pictures...

I think he knows where his food comes from, don't you? Ha!

Watchin some TV!

Mama and baby all dressed up and ready for church!

I don't know if I've ever mentioned this on here, but ever since Carter was a tiny thing, he would always cross his little feet. I think it is the cutest thing ever. Whether he is sitting on his own or in his car set, he is sitting proper!

Hopefully I will get to blog before we leave for Florida. I'm sure something exciting will happen between now and then...or at least something cute. That's pretty easy when you live with the cutest baby ever.

Growing Boy

I was boxing up the clothes that no longer fit Carter and came across the pajamas on the left. Those are the preemie size that were too big on him when he first came home from the hospital. The pajamas on the right are ones that he is about to grow out of now.

Sigh. My baby boy is growing too fast!!

Too Short Weekend - Too Long Post!

We made it home safely from Chattanooga last night after a busy and fun weekend! Carter ended up being a great traveler. He hardly fussed at all during the trip down there or back home, and when he did get restless, he was easily distracted by toys (or me singing...he thinks that's funny). He had a bit of trouble adjusting to being in a new place, but overall I have to say that he did fabulous! He didn't sleep as well as he usually does, but he was still in a good mood the majority of the time! Here is a little sample of what I got to listen to the way home from Tennessee.

Carter has taken a liking to making loud high pitch squeals. At first it was cute...now it's a bit annoying! Ha! And since Corbin was driving I had the pleasure of listening to random talk radio shows.

Anyway - back to the trip. We had a blast playing with Carter's cousins Baylie and Brenna and hanging out with the rest of the Crittenden Clan. It was fun to have the 4 generations together. Here are some pictures from our weekend, because I know that's really what you came here for...

Carter is all smiles a few hours into his first long car ride!

Look what we passed! We also passed a "Rossville" but I couldn't get my camera out quick enough!

Carter and his great grandparents all the way from Florida!

Four generations!

No Sunday is complete without a photoshoot after church...

I am so glad that Carter has cousins close to his age to play with! Now we just have to get them to move to SC so we can see them more often! It was so cute to watch the little ones "interact" - which basically consisted of Carter kicking Brenna and Brenna staring back at him like he was crazy. Should have gotten that on video!

MANY thanks to Phil and Nicole for letting us take over their home for the weekend and for basically making the "meeting of the great grandparents" possible!

Baby's First Trip...

We will be leaving in a few hours for Chattanooga. Carter is going to meet his great grandparents on the Crittenden side for the first time! I won't lie - I am extremely anxious about the 5 hour drive (which will probably take longer with stops to eat). If you think about it, say a little prayer that the trip goes well and that Carter gets enough rest - I don't want him to be cranky the whole weekend! Thanks!

Here are some pics to tide you over this weekend :)

Carter got to wear some REAL big boy jeans on Wednesday. I was so excited! I have been waiting for them to fit him. Gotta love the shirt, too!

And here is a little video of Carter bustin a move. This is after his cereal - it really get's him pumped up. It's so funny!

Mother's Day!

My first Mother's Day was definitely a great one! Carter woke up and gave me a huge grin and I knew it was going to be a good day. Corbin of course made me feel super special and had a card from Carter, card from him, and gifts from the both of them. They got me a gift certificate for a pedicure (oh so needed!) and a Vera Bradley diaper bag that I have been wanting! I LOVE it!

Church was good too. We had a breakfast during Sunday school and Corbin took Carter out when he got fussy during the service so I could hear the message! We had lunch at my parents house, which was super yummy, and Carter-man surprised us all by taking a 2 hour nap!! Sunday night all the family came to our church to see Carter's dedication. I was nervous that he would be restless during the whole thing, but he slept through it like a champ. Here are some pictures from the day:

Carter's BFF Graham also got dedicated!

Love my little family!

I am so blessed to be a mama to this little fella! I really don't know what I would do without him. Corbin and I are also super blessed to have amazing mom's ourselves! You both have served as Godly examples, and we definitely wouldn't be the parents we are today without you. We can never thank y'all enough for keeping Carter for us. It is so great to know that he is being loved on all day while we are at work.

More firsts!!

Carter got to hang out in his exersaucer for the first time this week! Clearly he's not quite sure what it's purpose is, but it was cute to put him in it anyway. He's also still a bit small for it, so we stuffed his toys all around him.

Guess what else my big boy has been doing? Rolling over!! He's done it a few times the last few days. Corbin and I definitely think the large noggin helps him over. I haven't caught that on video...yet. Stay tuned!

A year ago today...

A year ago today I found out I was pregnant! It is so crazy to think how fast this past year has flown by - and it really has been one of the greatest years ever. I basically enjoyed the majority of my pregnancy and was blessed to have no complications, my labor (though the longest 19 hours of my life) went well, and now I have the sweetest four month old smile at me every morning!

Unfortunately, as I have friends who are now of "child bearing age" I have learned of so many who are struggling to get pregnant and have suffered heartbreaking miscarriages. It is when I am up at random hours of the night with a fussy baby or frustrated with a baby who just won't nap that I remind myself that there are so many who would give anything to be in my shoes.

This also reminds me of something I have been meaning to post. Y'all might remember my doctor who after many years of trying to get pregnant finally found out that she was pregnant with twins! Well recently she was put on bed rest for preeclampsia. Then at a doctor's appointment last week I found out that she has lost one of the babies. Please please pray that her little boy continues to grow and stays inside his mama's belly for as long as possible! I can't imagine what it would be like knowing that you are carrying a baby who has already gone to heaven.

It also won't hurt for you to count your blessings today...I know I have.
